Briefly: Aerosmith, Erick Sermon, Reba McEntire
plus: Radio's most spun. Timbaland to focus on producing.
Because frontman Steven Tyler fell ill, Aerosmith canceled its performances in Pittsburgh on Saturday (10/27) and in Toronto on Monday (10/29). There are no plans to reschedule the shows. The tour is expected to resume in Montreal on Wednesday (10/31).
The band has also canceled a Nov. 2 show in Columbus, Ohio, and has replaced it with a show on the same date in Dayton, Ohio.
Rapper Erick Sermon , in his first statement since he was hospitalized for what were initially described as serious injuries, told MTV that he suffered the injuries in a car accident. When Sermon was first hospitalized, a J Records spokesperson said that Sermon suffered broken bones and internal bleeding in the accident. Police later said that his injuries resulted from a fall, and were investigating the incident as a possible suicide attempt.
Sermon told MTV that he did not attempt suicide, and that the only injury he suffered was a broken arm.
Reba McEntire has been added to the list of performers for the 35th Annual CMA Awards, which take place on Nov. 7.
Radio's most played songs for the week ending Oct. 29, according to Broadcast Data Systems:
Pop: Alicia Keys, "Fallin'"
Rock: Nickelback, "How You Remind Me"
Alternative: Nickelback, "How You Remind Me"
Country: Tim McGraw, "Angry All the Time"
Timbaland told Billboard that the sophomore set from Timbaland and Magoo, titled "Indecent Proposal," (due on Nov. 20) will be his last as a recording artist. He plans to focus on producing. "I just didn't have the control that I wanted [with the new album]," he reportedly said. "I wasn't able to oversee things the way I would have liked to in terms of release dates, etc."
