B.B. King to tour through the holiday season
Legendary blues performer B.B. King is celebrating his holiday album "A Christmas Celebration of Hope" with nearly two months' worth of dates.
The tour kicks off on Nov. 4 in Edmonton, Alberta, and runs through Dec. 30.
"A Christmas Celebration of Hope" (MCA), which features "Please Come Home for Christmas" and "Auld Lang Syne," is King's first Christmas record. MCA Records is donating all the profits from the album to City of Hope, a biomedical research and treatment center, according to King's official website. The record hits stores Nov. 6.
Produced by King, the 13-track "A Christmas Celebration of Hope" features two originals: "Christmas Celebration," which he originally released in 1960, and the new instrumental song "Christmas Love."
Earlier this year, MCA released "Here and There: The Uncollected B.B. King." The album includes duets with Willie Nelson, Albert Collins, Gary Burton and Grover Washington Jr.
In February, King won two Grammys, one for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for "Is You, or Is You Ain't (My Baby)" with Dr. John, and Best Traditional Blues Album for "Riding with the King" with Eric Clapton.
