Elton John, Sting, Chili Peppers, others hook up for December benefit
Organizers of the second annual Silver Lining Silver Lake benefit concert in Los Angeles have confirmed a roster of big-name acts for this year's event, including Elton John , Sting , Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beck and Aimee Mann. Formerly a single-night concert, this year's benefit will take place on three consecutive nights in mid December.
The event's first two nights are set at the Paramour Estate in the city's Silver Lake neighborhood on Dec. 13 and 14. The first night will be hosted by actor Robert Downey, Jr., and will feature performances from both John and Sting, as well as Deborah Falconer, Daniel Lanois and Bostich of the Nortec Collective.
The second night's roster comprises Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jaguares, Aimee Mann, Jurassic 5 and DJ Keoki, and will be hosted by MTV personality Johnny Knoxville, skateboarder Tony Hawk and surfer Kelly Slater.
The benefit's third and final night will take place on Dec. 15 at the Hollywood Palladium and will include performances from Beck, Jaguares and others. Actors Benicio Del Toro and Roselyn Sanchez will host.
Tickets to each of the benefit's first two nights range from $250 to $1,000, while tickets for the third night are set between $75 and $150, according to organizers. All three shows go on sale on Nov. 3.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Hollywood Sunset Free Clinic. Located on Hollywood's Sunset Boulevard, the clinic has provided free physical and mental health care for Los Angeles-area residents since 1968.
The inaugural Silver Lake Silver Lining benefit concert took place in November 2000 at the Paramour Estate and featured performances by Beck, Aimee Mann, Rufus Wainwright and others. Over 1,600 people attended and over $488,000 was raised for the clinic.
More information about the event can be found at the benefit's official website.
