VHS, DVD release planned for Madonna's 'Drowned' concert

Warner Reprise Video has set a Nov. 12 release date for Madonna 's "Drowned World Tour 2001," a VHS and DVD that captures the singer's Aug. 26 performance at the Palace of Auburn Hills, Mich. The concert was originally broadcast live on HBO.

The DVD will be released in the new 5.1 surround DVD-Audio format. The cover packaging features photographs taken on tour by Madonna's friend, Rosie O'Donnell.

The show, which was billed as a homecoming of sorts, took place in a Detroit suburb that neighbors Madonna's hometown of Rochester, Mich.

Madonna's performance on this night was fairly representative of the tour. Her set list focused on material from her two most recent releases, but she also played her older hits "Holiday" and "La Isla Bonita."
