Weezer and Tenacious D hook up for road trip
update: Having wrapped up the first leg of its U.S. arena tour last month, Weezer will return to the road in November with Tenacious D and Jimmy Eats World supporting. The outing will include make-up performances for a pair of California stops originally set for September.
Those two stops--San Jose and San Diego--are make-up dates for Sept. 11 and Sept. 14 performances that were scrapped in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Tickets for the original dates will be accepted at the make-up shows, or ticket-holders can get a refund at the point of purchase.
Dates for both Internet pre-sales and traditional on-sales for all of the new dates have been set. More information about the pre-sales can be found at the Weezer's website.
The tour is expected to run until December 13, according to a Tenacious D press release.
Weezer is touring behind a self-titled release known as "The Green Album" (Interscope). The album hit stores in May and debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album features the alt-rock group's hit "Hash Pipe," as well as its latest single, "Island in the Sun."
Tenacious D--comic musicians Jack Black and Kyle Gass--released its self-titled debut on Epic Records last month. The album was produced by Dust Brothers (Beck's "Odelay") and features guest performances from Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl and Phish's Page McConnell. The duo is in the midst of its own headlining club tour, which wraps up on Halloween.
Jimmy Eat World's latest is also a self-titled effort, which was released on DreamWorks Records in July. The group is slated to tour with Weezer and Tenacious D from Nov. 13 until Nov. 30, according to organizers.
