Limp Bizkit to hold guitarist auditions during cross-country tour
In an effort to find a replacement for recently departed guitarist Wes Borland, Limp Bizkit is planning a tour that will include guitarist auditions in each city. The band will visit non-traditional venues in eight to 14 markets, tentatively beginning in late November.
According to a press release, the band is hoping to include Boston, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Jacksonville, Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit, Chicago, Denver, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Details will be posted on Limp Bizkit's official website.
Lead singer Fred Durst said in the press release, "We could be at a club, at your house, at the mall, at your high school, who knows. Listen to your local rock or alternative station for details."
Limp Bizkit's forthcoming album, "New Old Songs" (Interscope), will hit stores Dec. 4. It features reworkings of the band's hits by producers the Neptunes, Timbaland, P. Diddy, DJ Premiere, Butch Vig, William Orbit and Limp Bizkit’s DJ Lethal. It also features guest appearances by Xzibit, Everlast, Eve, 8-Ball, Bubba Sparxxx and E-40.
Borland recently exited Limp Bizkit amicably. He is starting a new band that will comprise his brother Scott Borland and friends Kyle Weeks and Greg Isabel, all of whom are also members of Borland's BIGdumbFACE side-project. The working name for this new group was "gutta-percha," but that name has been ditched, according to BIGdumbFACE's official website. Borland's new band will be his primary focus, and BIGdumbFACE will remain a side project, the site said.
