Rod Stewart adds tour dates, readies hits collection
update: Rod Stewart , who last week kicked off the second leg of his North American tour, has added a handful of November dates to the run, and has also canceled several stops on the outing, including a New York City performance originally scheduled for next Tuesday (10/16).
In addition to the canceled Oct. 16 stop at New York City's Madison Square Garden, Stewart has also canceled his Oct. 23 engagement in Erie, Penn., and his Nov. 21 date in Salt Lake City, according to tour promoter Clear Channel Entertainment. Refunds are available at point of purchase.
The New York City date was canceled following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the city, while the Erie and Salt Lake City dates were canceled due to a scheduling conflict, according to a Clear Channel spokesperson.
Meanwhile, a batch of early November dates in the Midwest and a late November stop in Arizona have been added to Stewart's itinerary, and his Oct. 20 stop in Georgia has been moved from the Columbus Civic Center to Atlanta's Chastain Park Amphitheatre, according to organizers.
Several dates have also been added to the Australian leg of Stewart's tour, which is now set to begin in late January.
On Nov. 13, Rhino Records will release "The Very Best of Rod Stewart," a collection of 16 digitally remastered hits. Songs featured on the album will include "Maggie May," "Tonight's the Night," "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" "Some Guys Have All the Luck," "My Heart Can't Tell You No," "Young Turks," "Downtown Train," and "Rhythm of My Heart." The packaging, meanwhile, will contain never-before-seen photos from Stewart's personal collection, according to Rhino.
Stewart's latest album of new material, "Human" (Atlantic), was released in February and debuted at No. 50 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
