Sammy Hagar postpones Birthday Bash due to hurricane aftermath

Sammy Hagar 's annual Birthday Bash at his Cabo Wabo nightclub in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, which was set to take place this coming weekend, has been postponed in the wake of a recent hurricane. The event was to feature Hagar and his band the Waboritas, as well as Godsmack, Nickelback and guitarist Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains).

Plans are in the works to reschedule the multi-night celebration for "spring break" of next year, according to Hagar's official website, though no specific dates have been announced.

Hagar and two of his band members--guitarist Victor Johnson and drummer David Lauser--still plan to perform at the club on Friday and Saturday night (10/12-13) to raise money for locals who have been affected by the hurricane. Saturday marks Hagar's 54th birthday.

On Sept. 28, hurricane Juliette struck Cabo San Lucas, a resort town at the tip of Mexico's Baja Peninsula. The storm lingered in the area, causing extensive damage that reportedly included the destruction of a number of residents' homes, smashed windows, downed power lines and widespread flooding.
