Slayer sets up North American dates behind 'God Hates Us All'

Slayer has lined up plans to follow its current Tattoo the Planet tour of Europe with a North American outing that will get underway later this month. The L.A.-based thrash-metal group is supporting its latest release, "God Hates Us All."

Slayer's current headlining run atop the Tattoo the Planet roster wraps up in England on Sunday (10/14). The group was to co-headline the outing with Pantera, but the latter group bowed out following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

"God Hates Us All" (American Recordings) hit stores last month, and entered the Billboard 200 album chart at No. 28. Hailed by some critics as the group's best work since 1990's "Seasons in the Abyss," the album was produced by Matt Hynde (Monster Magnet, Porno for Pyros) instead of the group's longtime producer, Rick Rubin, head of American Recordings. Rubin mixed the album's 13 tracks.
