Rapper Erick Sermon , 32, was in critical but stable condition at a Patterson, N.J., hospital on Friday (9/28) after suffering broken bones and internal bleeding in an automobile accident on Tuesday, the Associated Press reported. A spokesperson told the AP that Sermon regained consciousness on Thursday. Sermon's new album, "Music" (J Records), is scheduled for release on Oct. 23.
John Mellencamp will appear during a pre-race festival dubbed United We Stand at the SAP United States Grand Prix Formula One race on Sunday (9/30) at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. With the 40-person Butler University Choir, Mellencamp will perform "Peaceful World," the debut single from his forthcoming album "Cuttin' Heads," due on Oct. 16.
The Doobie Brothers, Martina McBride, Arlo Guthrie, Acoustic Syndicate, Jimmy Reyser, Chris Knight, Susan Tedeschi, Alice Peacock and Kory and the Fire Flys have been added to this year's Farm Aid lineup. They join previously announced acts Dave Matthews and event co-founders Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp.
The Farm Aid concert takes place on Saturday (9/29) at Verizon Wireless Music Center, in Noblesville, Ind.
Pop group Hanson and its label Chrysalis Records have sued MP3.com for streaming copyrighted songs, Billboard.com reported. The suit seeks up to $150,000 per song.
According to the article, "Last year MP3.com paid more than $120 million to settle similar suits with the majors, including Vivendi Universal, which then purchased the service in May for $372 million."
Godsmack--in conjunction with venues and promoters--has donated the proceeds from merchandise sales on its just-completed tour to the Solidarity Foundation, which benefits the orphans, police officers and firefighters in New York City. The band's contribution added up to more than $100,000, according to its publicist.
