Barry Manilow plots theater run behind new album
SEPT. 28, 4:49 P.M. ET Barry Manilow plans to hit the road in December for an extensive North American tour that is expected to stretch well into next year. The jaunt primarily comprises multi-night stands at mid-size venues, and dates have been confirmed through late February 2002.
Tickets for the three-night kick-off at Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on Dec. 13-15, hit the box office on Saturday (9/29), and tickets for the Dec. 20 stop in Vancouver, British Columbia, are set to go on sale on Monday (10/1), according to Manilow’s official website.
Members of the Barry Manilow International Fan Club will have a shot at tickets prior to the public on-sale dates, according to the club’s official website.
An additional 14 U.S. cities will likely be added to Manilow’s itinerary, and a subsequent European tour is tentatively set to begin in early May.
Manilow’s first collection of new material in more than a decade, “Here at the Mayflower,” is due on Nov. 13, and marks the singer’s first release for Concord Records. Manilow, who spent 25 years recording for Arista Records, signed with Concord earlier this year after longtime Arista head Clive Davis was ousted from the company.
Manilow rose to prominence during the ‘70s with the No. 1 hits "Mandy, “ "I Write the Songs" and "Looks Like We Made It," as well as Top 10 hits "Could It Be Magic," "Copacabana (At the Copa)" and "I Made It Through the Rain."
