Vince Gill, Amy Grant team for holiday tour
SEPT. 27, 5:45 P.M. ET Backed by the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Vince Gill and Amy Grant are heading out on the road for a 13-city, holiday-season tour. The jaunt begins on Nov. 30 and runs through Dec. 16.
Tickets will go on sale on Oct. 13 in all markets except for Nashville and Philadelphia, where the on-sale dates are Oct. 20 and Oct. 22, respectively.
The tour features the bluegrass trio Nickel Creek and young contemporary-Christian singer Rachael Lampas as openers.
Gill, who has won 14 Grammys and 18 Country Music Association (CMA) awards, will host the 2001 CMAs on Nov. 7 for the 10th year. His wife Grant has garnered five Grammy and 22 Dove awards, and has scored a handful of mainstream hits, including "Baby, Baby," "Next Time I Fall" and "Takes a Little Time."
Nickel Creek--Chris Thile, Sara Watkins and Sean Watkins--released its self-titled debut album in 2000. The band was recently nominated for two CMA awards--Group of the Year and the Horizon award--and has also been nominated for three International Bluegrass Music Awards, which ceremony is set for Oct. 4 in Louisville, Ky. Thile releases "Not All Who Wander Are Lost" (Sugar Hill) on Nov. 9.
Fifteen-year-old Lampas is promoting her debut album, "Live for You" (Word). She recorded a duet with Aaron Neville, "There Is Still a Dream," for his gospel album "Devotion" (Tell It Records/EMI Gospel).
