Aerosmith fortifies upcoming tour route, snags the Cult

After recently announcing plans to launch the second leg of its North American tour in mid-October, Aerosmith has now filled in the blanks in its itinerary through mid-December. The group has also tagged the Cult to open most of the dates on the upcoming jaunt.

Tickets for the group’s stops in Pittsburgh, Montreal, Philadelphia and Ft. Lauderdale hit the box office on Saturday (9/29), according to tour promoter Clear Channel Entertainment. Many other stops are already on sale. Details appear in the itinerary below.

The first leg of the tour will now wrap up with two make-up shows: Bristow, Va., on Tuesday (9/25) and Camden, N.J., on Thursday (9/27). Those shows were postponed, and a Sept. 11 stop in Virginia Beach was canceled, due to the terrorist attacks on the U.S.

Also canceled is the Oct. 9 stop in Vancouver, British Columbia, which would have kicked off the second leg. That show was canceled due to a scheduling conflict with a video shoot, according to a Clear Channel spokesperson.

The second leg will instead get underway on Oct. 11 in Calgary, and the Cult is due to join the tour beginning on Oct. 15.

“Just Push Play” (Columbia), Aerosmith’s most recent release, hit stores in March and entered the Billboard 200 album chart at No. 2. The album has sold a total of just over 1 million copies, according to industry sources.

The Cult released its latest, “Beyond Good and Evil” (Atlantic), in June. The album, which was produced by Bob Rock, is the group’s first collection of new material since its 1994 self-titled release.
