Social Distortion returns to the road

Southern California punk group Social Distortion has extended its fall tour into late November with a new batch of confirmed dates, and is expected to add even more dates soon.

The band returns to the road Sept. 28, when it performs at the Sunshine Theatre in Albuquerque, N.M. The jaunt currently runs through Nov. 20, the final night of a three-night-stand at New York's Irving Plaza, according to its website.

The itinerary includes performances as part of the X96 Big A-- Show in Salt Lake City with Alien Ant Farm, Ben Folds, Saliva, AFI, Prime (STH) and Handsome Devil; and the Hootenanny Festival in San Jose on Oct. 20 with the likes of Rev. Horton Heat, Junior Brown, Hank Williams III, Dave Edmunds, Blasters and Lee Rocker.

Social Distortion resumed touring earlier this year after taking time off to mourn the death of Dennis Danell, the band's guitarist, who died of natural causes on Feb. 29, 2000. Taking Danell's spot is Jonny Wickersham, formerly of Cadillac Tramps and Youth Brigade.
