Tom Waits To Unveil New U.S. Tour

Tom Waits will perform a second set of U.S. shows following his current European tour, it was confirmed Friday (7/16). Waits' new U.S. dates will begin in August, with two shows at Minneapolis, Minnesota's State Theatre on sale this week.

Waits completed a brief West Coast run of five shows in mid-June. The current itinerary, behind his acclaimed recent release Mule Variations, is his first tour since stepping away from the rigors of live performing in 1989.

A video for the first single from the album, ''Hold On,'' debuted Sunday night on MTV's 120 Minutes.

In May, tickets for the first string of U.S. shows, at Los Angeles' Wiltern Theatre and Oakland's Paramount Theatre, sold out in minutes. The first announced dates for the second string, August 29 and 30 and Minneapolis' State Theatre, are set for sale Saturday at noon.

Waits' publicists indicate that a number of additional U.S. tour stops will be announced soon.
