Mariah Carey reportedly hospitalized again
Mariah Carey was hospitalized in Los Angeles on Tuesday (9/4) after suffering a relapse in her recovery from a nervous breakdown, according to a report in Thursday's (9/6) New York Daily News. Reached on Thursday morning, Carey's spokesperson said "No comment" when asked if Carey had been hospitalized for what would be the second time in recent weeks.
Carey was previously hospitalized on July 25, after suffering what her publicist termed an "emotional and physical breakdown." On that occasion, according to witnesses, Carey had bandages on both wrists and hands when she was hospitalized, the Daily News reported. Her publicist acknowledged that Carey broke dishes and glasses and "may have stepped on them," but denied that a suicide attempt was made.
Prior to her first stay in the hospital, Carey posted a distressed message on her official website. "What I'd like to do is just a take a little break or at least get one night of sleep without someone popping up about a video," Carey said. "All I really want is to just be me and that's what I should have done in the first place ... I don't say this much but guess what, I don't take care of myself."
Carey's scheduled Sept. 14 appearance on "The Tonight Show" has been postponed. Earlier this week, Carey postponed a scheduled Sept. 12 TV interview with Barbara Walters.
As of now, "Glitter," a movie starring Carey, is still on track for a Sept. 21 release, according to Carey's spokesperson. The "Glitter" album is scheduled for release on Tuesday (9/11).
