Tom Petty To Mark Album Release With New York Performances
Tom Petty will mark the release of his latest Heartbreakers effort, Echo, with a trio of concerts at New York's Irving Plaza and televised performances on Saturday Night Live and the David Letterman show. Ticket vouchers for the Irving Plaza run went on sale Sunday (3/27).
The voucher system is used my venues and acts to limit the opportunity for resale of tickets. In the process, the purchaser buys a voucher that only they can redeem and must return to the venue on the night of the show to pick up their tickets. After the box office verifies the identity of the voucher-holder, they receive two tickets and are escorted into the venue with their one guest, eliminating the chance that the tickets could be resold outside the venue.
Petty and the Heartbreakers will mix their Irving Plaza shows in with a pair of high-profile television appearances surrounding the release of Echo. They'll perform on Saturday Night Live on April 10th and on the Late Show with David Letterman on April 13th, the day of the album's release.
