Disturbed, Drowning Pool and others hook up for festival tour
Disturbed has lined up plans to headline a fall package tour dubbed Music as a Weapon. Due to kick off in late September, the traveling rock festival will also feature Drowning Pool , Adema, Stereomud and Systematic.
Following its run with this summer’s Ozzfest--which wrapped up earlier this month--Disturbed had originally planned to open for Black Sabbath on a post-Ozzfest tour, but that jaunt was scrapped.
In addition to its spot on the Ozzfest mainstage, Disturbed’s busy summer touring schedule also included Big Day Off, a tour that featured several Ozzfest acts--including Papa Roach and Slipknot--who performed during their days off from the Ozzfest tour in markets that Ozzfest would not be visiting.
Prior to setting out on Music as a Weapon, Disturbed is slated to headline Boston’s Sept. 16 Locobazooka festival, where they’ll share the stage with Kittie, Nonpoint, Rollins Band and others.
Disturbed is touring in support its platinum-certified debut album, “The Sickness,” which hit stores in March of last year. The album features the group’s current hit, “Down with the Sickness.”
Drowning Pool occupies the opening slot on Sevendust’s current tour, and has dates scheduled with that group until Music as a Weapon begins. “Sinner” (Wind Up), Drowning Pool’s debut album, surfaced in early June and has spawned the group’s breakthrough single, “Bodies.”
Adema’s self-titled debut was released on Aug. 21, while both Stereomud’s “Perfect Self” and Systematic’s “Somewhere in Between” dropped in May.
Drowning Pool and Systematic were featured on Ozzfest 2001’s second stage.
