A Sept. 25 release date has been set for "The Who and Special Guests, Live at the Royal Albert Hall," on DVD and videocassette, according to Image Entertainment. The release captures the band's Nov. 27, 2000 performance at London's Royal Albert Hall, where the band concluded a six-month tour.
The show was a benefit for the UK's Teenage Cancer Trust, and featured appearances by Bryan Adams, Noel Gallagher, Kelly Jones, Eddie Vedder and Paul Weller.
"Down to Earth," Ozzy Osbourne's 13th solo album and his first in six years, is scheduled for release on Epic Records on Oct. 13. The album was recorded over the past year with producer Tim Palmer and Zakk Wylde (guitar), Robert Truillo (bass) and Michael Bordin (drums).
Madonna Condoms--which were previously sold only in Europe in Japan--are now available in the U.S. through the Condomania website and select music retailers.
Bassist Lisa Umbarger has left the Toadies, prompting the band to break up, the Dallas Morning News reported. The remaining band members reportedly will play a series of farewell shows in Texas, including a Sept. 29 gig at the Bronco Bowl in Dallas. "Rubberneck," the band's 1994 major-label debut, sold more than a million copies.
The ACLU announced that a U.S. district judge in New Orleans ruled on Thursday (8/23) against prosecutors who claimed that glow sticks qualified as "drug paraphernalia." The plaintiffs in the ACLU class-action lawsuit include rave attendees and artists.
According to Reuters, group of songwriters and publishers has filed suit against MP3.com for placing MP3 versions of copyrighted songs on its servers, thus "creating 'on demand' access to the infringed works by subscribers, and vicarious infringement for 'viral distribution' of the infringed works downloaded by subscribers and then passed on to others."
