Dave Matthews Band plans to release its third live album, "Live in Chicago 12/19/98" (RCA), on Oct. 23, Billboard reported.

In an audio message posted to Mariah Carey 's official website this week--her first since her recent two-week stay in a Connecticut hospital for what her publicist termed "an emotional and physical breakdown"--she thanked fans for their support. "You definitely can't believe everything you read," she said. "And thank you, because I am taking care of myself."

Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys and his wife, Leighanne, have formed a music label and production company called BriLeigh Productions, MTV.com reported. Their first release reportedly will be the soundtrack to the independent film "Olive Juice," which features Leighanne in the lead role.

Jefferey McGuire of North Syracuse, N.Y., 19, collapsed at Radiohead's sold out Aug. 16 show at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, N.J., and was pronounced dead less than an hour later, the Jersey Journal reported. According to the newspaper, the cause of death has not been determined.

Metallica, litigious as always, has filed suit against a California company that is marketing a "shiny, edgy wheel called the Metallica," SonicNet reported. A lawyer for Metallica the band reportedly said that the group has already licensed Metallica tire wheel covers, and that "part of our natural expansion [includes selling wheels], and they're trying to usurp the market, which isn't right."

30 Odd Foot of Grunts, a band fronted by actor Russell Crowe, will release an album titled "Bastard Life of Clarity" (Artemis) on Sept. 11. The band is on tour in support of the release.
