Dixie Chicks to play Austin benefit

After an extended break from touring and recording, Dixie Chicks are returning to the stage to headline a benefit for pediatric AIDS research.

The Grammy Award-winning trio will perform an acoustic set with the Austin Symphony Orchestra during the Texas Twilight Gala on Sept. 15 at the Austin Music Hall. It will be the first time that Dixie Chicks have been backed by an orchestra.

"PAL's relationship with the Dixie Chicks began with the birth of Natalie Maines' son, Jackson Slade, when she requested that donations be made to the organization in lieu of baby gifts," said Clif Loftin, executive director Pediatric AIDS League of Texas, in a press release.

Shawn Colvin and Terri Hendrix are also scheduled to perform.

Proceeds from the benefit will go to the Pediatric AIDS League of Texas, University of Houston Pediatric HIV Program and Pediatric AIDS Network of Dallas (PANDA). For more information call (512) 892-4776.
