Sevendust plots outing with Drowning Pool
Currently finishing up work on its third album, Sevendust has lined up plans for a tour of the U.S. club circuit that will feature Drowning Pool in the opening slot. The outing includes two Canadian dates as well, both of which will feature additional support from Canadian rock outfit Finger Eleven .
Sevendust’s Aug. 21 tour kick-off will be preceded by a pair of radio festival dates in Florida, the first of which is set in Miami for radio station 94.9 Zeta. The group will share that stage with Live, System of a Down, Stereomud, the Toadies, Darwin’s Waiting Room and Endo, according to the station’s official website.
The second radio festival is set in St. Petersburg, where Sevendust will headline a bill that also includes Stereomud and Soil. Tickets to the show can only be won through Tampa radio station 98 Rock, according to the station’s website.
Both stations are owned by industry giant Clear Channel Communications, the company that acquired behemoth concert promoter SFX Entertainment--recently renamed Clear Channel Entertainment--last year.
Sevendust has finished recording its follow-up to 1999’s “Home” (TVT), and recently began mixing the album in Los Angeles, according to the group’s official website. The album is targeted for a November release, according to the group’s management.
“Home,” the group’s sophomore effort, debuted at No. 19 on the Billboard 200 album chart, and has been certified gold.
Drowning Pool, which is currently on the road as part of this year’s Ozzfest, released its debut effort, “Sinner” (Wind Up), in early June. The group has scored a hit with the song “Bodies,” which sits at No. 8 on trade publication Radio & Records’ latest active rock airplay chart.
Finger Eleven is touring in support of last year’s “Greyest of Blue Skies” (Wind Up), the group’s second album.
