Third Eye Blind, Deftones and others unite for benefit concert
Third Eye Blind , Deftones and Sugar Ray are among the artists who have signed on to perform at an October breast-cancer benefit in Los Angeles. Dubbed Breathe, the event will also feature Crazytown, Run-DMC, Liz Phair, Nikka Costa, Pete Yorn and Julia Fordham.
Produced by the Step Up Women’s Network and Third Eye Blind frontman Stephen Jenkins, Breathe is scheduled to take place at Los Angeles’ Greek Theater on Oct. 27. Proceeds from the event will benefit the UCLA Breast Center and the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Breast Cancer Examination Center of Harlem, according to organizers.
Breathe was conceived by Step Up founder and president Kaye Popofsky and by Third Eye Blind’s Jenkins, whose mother is a breast-cancer survivor, according to an event press release.
Step Up describes itself as a non-profit membership organization that “unites female professionals” and seeks to “raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research and other women's causes through events that support and promote the career development of our membership.”
More information about the event--including ticket info--can be obtained by calling (323) 549-5347.
