Country music guitarist-producer Chet Atkins died on Saturday (6/30) following battles with cancer, the New York Times reported. He was 77.

Jazz saxophonist Joe Henderson died of heart failure at age 64 on Saturday (6/30), the Los Angeles Times reported.

According to the Associated Press, "Napster's song-sharing service was offline Monday [7/2] as it worked to transform itself into a music company for paying customers."

The Sounds of Detroit Celebrity Homecoming Concert, a July 21 concert that is part of Detroit's 300th birthday celebration, will feature Stevie Wonder, Anita Cochran and jazz group Take 6, Billboard.com reported.

On July 20, the city will host Jazz Detroit: Swing, Bop & Beyond, featuring more than 20 artists, headlined by Della Reese.

The Nashville Tennessean reported that the International Rock-A-Billy Hall of Fame opened in Jackson, Tenn., on Saturday (6/30). According to the article, the museum features "the defibrillator and paddles used to try to spark life into the dying Elvis Presley in 1977."

According to a press release, all of the songs on Tori Amos's album "Strange Little Girls," due on Sept. 18, were "written by men, but are performed by Tori from the perspectives of a diverse cast of female characters." The songwriters include Neil Young, the Stranglers, Eminem, Depeche Mode, Slayer, Lou Reed, and John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
