Eagles to inaugurate new Denver stadium

Invesco Field at Mile High, a new stadium under construction in Denver, will be christened with a grand opening concert by the Eagles on Aug. 11, local officials announced.

The stadium originally was to open on Aug. 25 with a pre-season NFL football game between the Denver Broncos and the New Orleans Saints, but the region's Metropolitan Football Stadium District said in a press release that construction of the facility is ahead of schedule.

Ticket on-sale information for the Eagles' show has not been announced. The stadium district is also planning additional grand opening events surrounding the concert.

The Eagles announced earlier this year that a sold-out July 28 show in Dallas would be its only North American appearance. The Eagles also played a "casual" set last month for guests of the 16th annual Yellow Rose MS Foundation Gala in Dallas.

"We had no intention of working anywhere in the U.S.," Eagles manager Irving Azoff told the Rocky Mountain News. "We're doing Europe to keep the band tight, work on the new material and go into the studio in the fall."

The Eagles open a European tour in Moscow next week.
