Weezer embarks on promotional tour before hitting Euro festivals
Weezer is marking the release of its latest album with an already-underway promotional jaunt that will last until early June. Dubbed the “hooptie tour,” the outing primarily comprises radio-station festivals and private, small-venue shows.
With the exception of the festival dates, tickets to most of the band’s “hooptie tour” appearances can only be won from local radio stations, according to the group’s official website.
The group is also scheduled to perform at the MTV Movie Awards on June 2 and on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” on June 5.
Following its “hooptie tour,” Weezer is scheduled to head to Europe for a series of June-July festival dates.
Despite releasing a new album just last week, Weezer is already unveiling new, unreleased songs during its current live performances. A message posted on the band’s website says that the group debuted five new, untitled songs during its Sunday night (5/20) performance at a St. Louis radio festival.
“Hash Pipe,” the first single from Weezer’s new self-titled album, is at No. 2 on Billboard’s latest Modern Rock Tracks chart.
