'311 Day' moves to Las Vegas

Next year's " 311 Day," a special 311 concert event that is held every other year on March 11 (3/11), is moving from New Orleans to the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, according to a press release.

During the show, which is billed as "the ultimate 311 concert experience," the band typically plays an extended, five-hour setlist that features hits, rarities, covers and classics, backed by a state-of-the-art light and special effects show. Past concerts also have included circus performers, aerial acrobats, fire twirlers, stilt walkers, drumlines and marching bands.

March 11 has garnered so much support that the mayor of New Orleans officially proclaimed the date "311 Day" in the Louisiana city.

The 2008 "311 Day" reportedly drew more than 14,000 fans from all 50 states and from 13 different countries. The 2004 edition of "311 Day" was released on a DVD entitled "Live From New Orleans."

Tickets for the 2010 edition in Las Vegas go on sale Oct. 31 via Ticketmaster as well as the Mandalay Bay boxoffice (877-632-7400) and the resort's website. (LiveDaily is an operating unit of Ticketmaster Entertainment, which also owns Ticketmaster.)

Additional information about the band and "311 Day" can be found at the group's website.
