LOS ANGELES--Fresh off the release of their new album, “Lions” (V2), the Black Crowes stopped by the Guitar Center in Hollywood on Monday (5/14) to put their pawprints in the Hollywood Rock Walk of Fame. With producer Don Was, Noel Gallagher of Oasis [ tickets ] and guitarist Slash on hand for the induction ceremony, the Black Crowes joined a list of enshrined that includes Chuck Berry, Black Sabbath, Little Richard and Johnny Cash.

“We’ve had an amazing journey the last 10 years and we couldn’t be happier,” Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson said in his acceptance speech. “From Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters and George Jones and Jimmy Rogers and Bob Dylan and Neil Young and OutKast and a million other cool things, it really is about celebrating a bit of beauty and all the things that come with that. And that’s what we’ve been trying to do.”

Following the induction ceremony, Noel Gallagher--wearing a jeans jacket, jeans and shades indoors--spoke glowingly of the current Brotherly Love tour, with the Black Crowes and Oasis. The tour opened on Friday (4/11) in Las Vegas, and both bands have joined forces in early shows on covers of Fleetwood Mac's "Oh Well" and Pink Floyd's "Lucifer Sam."

“When you’re on the side of the stage and you’ve got guitars there and you’re watching a band as good as [the Black Crowes], you just want to play anyway," Gallagher said. "I think it’s quite insulting they wait until the end of the night. I should come out for the first song, the fifth song, the 11th and then the last song.”

Robinson, standing next to Gallagher chimed in, “By the end of the night, if it doesn’t look like the stage at the Grand Ole Opry, then we didn’t really do our job. ... You put this many musicians out on tour together--I’d like to say we’re all sitting around cutting out clippings from tabloids, but we’re playing guitars or listening to records and hanging out. That’s really what it’s all about.”

In typical sarcastic fashion, Gallagher discussed recent reports that drummer Alan White is injured and has been replaced on the tour by his brother, Steve. “Alan’s got a condition.... I’m not sure whether I believe him or not, but he said he couldn’t come anyway, so we got his brother to play drums. It’s been alright.”
