Brad Paisley follows Strait fest with solo dates

Brad Paisley has planned a massive tour around the May 29 release of his sophomore effort, the appropriately titled "Part II."

To follow his gigs as part of George Strait's country music festival, Paisley has scheduled shows through October, including a handful of Grand Ole Opry and county fair appearances. (Paisley was inducted into the Opry on Feb. 17.)

His first album, "Who Needs Pictures" (BMG/Arista), brought to radio four hit singles: "Me Neither," "He Didn’t Have to Be," "We Danced" and the title track. At this Wednesday’s Academy of County Music Awards, Paisley is up for Top Male Vocalist, Album of the Year and Song of the Year ("We Danced"). He is also slated to perform at the ceremony.

His 2000 stable of awards includes the CMA Horizon Award, ACM Top New Male Vocalist, TNN Country Weekly Music Awards’ Discovery Award, Song and Video of the Year (for "He Didn’t Have to Be"), R&R Readers’ Poll’s Best New Artist, and Gavin Breakthrough Artist of the Year.
