Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney saddle up for summer tour

The first batch of Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney concert dates have surfaced on their official websites, offering a glimpse of a major summer tour slated to be announced in detail soon.

So far--according to itineraries posted at the official websites of McGraw and Chesney--it appears that the tour begins on June 23 in Las Vegas, and runs through the end of July. One of McGraw’s publicists, Jessie Schmidt, said that the singer will release a full itinerary via his official website later this week.

McGraw is touring behind his latest album, "Set This Circus Down" (Curb), which was released on April 24 and debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 album chart. The album entered Billboard's Country Album chart at No. 1, marking McGraw's fifth consecutive debut atop that chart. According to McGraw's publicist, more than 223,400 copies of "Set This Circus Down" were sold in its first first week in stores.

McGraw and Chesney are both up for Academy of Country Music Awards, which will handed out at a ceremony to be televised by CBS-TV on Wednesday (5/9). McGraw and Chesney are vying for the Top Male Vocalist award, while McGraw and his wife, singer Faith Hill , are up for Vocal Event of the Year for the song "Let’s Make Love."

Chesney and McGraw are set to make an appearance of another sort on May 14, when they face charges related to a June 2000 scuffle with a law enforcement officers in Orchard Park, N.Y.

The two are accused of taking a horse belonging to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office on a joy ride. A scuffle ensued when police tried to remove Chesney from the horse. McGraw initially was charged with a felony for assaulting a police officer, obstructing governmental administration, and menacing and resisting arrest. Last August, the felony charge was dropped.

Chesney--who released his "Greatest Hits" (BNA) in 2000--faces a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.
