Lee Ann Womack lines up solo outing to follow Strait festival

emailLee Ann Womack plans to follow her stint on the annual George Strait Country Music Festival with an extensive solo run through the country-fair and casino circuits. The outing kicks off on June 15 and will keep the singer on the road well into the fall.
The George Strait Festival--which features Strait, Womack, Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson, Lonestar, Sara Evans and Asleep at the Wheel--wraps up in Irving, Texas, on June 10. The tour began on March 24, and continues this Saturday (5/12) in Kansas City.
On June 2 and 3--an off weekend for the Strait Festival--Womack is on the bill for radio festivals in Mansfield, Mass., and Providence, R.I., respectively.
Womack is touring in support of her year-old release, “I Hope You Dance” (MCA Nashville), which was certified double-platinum in April by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album’s title-track has spent 16 weeks on Billboard’s Country Singles Sales chart, on which it peaked at No. 1 and currently sits at No. 11.
On Sunday (5/13), Country Music Television will air a two-hour special hosted by Womack titled “Mother’s Day Diaries.” The program is scheduled to run at both 12 p.m. Pacific Time and 6 p.m. Pacific Time, and will also feature Faith Hill, Martina McBride and Jo Dee Messina, according to a CMT press release.
