Randy Travis takes to the road in July
Country/gospel singer Randy Travis will keep busy over the next couple of months with a series of tour dates, and with acting work for television and a movie.
Travis' summer tour begins on July 4 at Six Flags Great America in Jackson, N.J. His itinerary also includes appearances at Jamboree in the Hills in St. Clairsville, Ohio, and Grace Fest, a multi-denominational Christian festival, both on July 21.
On May 13 and 20, Travis will star in two episodes of "Touched by an Angel" that were inspired by his latest album, the spiritual collection "Inspirational Journey." The record recently earned him two Dove Awards for Country Recorded Song and Best Bluegrass Album.
The singer will share the big screen in the fall with actors Eric Roberts, Ernest Borgnine and Stella Stevens in "The Long Ride Home," an action/adventure independent film set in the late 1960s. The movie will be released to theaters in October.
Travis is planning a return to his country roots as well. He recently inked a deal with the newly formed Relentless/Nashville label to record a country album that is tentatively set to be released in early 2002. According to his official website, the
project will include new Travis tracks as well as classic songs from film and television projects in which he has been involved.
