Stereophonics' North American tour postponed

Stereophonics ' North American outing has been postponed so that frontman Kelly Jones can recover from a chest infection. The group was due to kick off the jaunt on May 14 in San Francisco.

Doctors have advised Jones to take a month off, according to an announcement posted on Stereophonics’ official website. He will likely be able to resume touring in June.

The U.K. trio’s North American dates will be rescheduled “imminently,” according to the announcement.

The band’s previously scheduled pair of headlining performances at the U.K. “A Day at the Races” festivals will not be affected, according to the group’s website. Those shows are set to take place on July 14 at Donnington Racetrack and July 21 at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium. The latter date was originally booked at Chepstow Racecourse, but was moved due to concerns over the foot and mouth disease that has been plaguing livestock in the area.

The group is also still scheduled to open five of U2’s July and August European tour dates.

Stereophonics’ new album, “Just Enough Education to Perform” (V2), arrived in stores on April 22, and debuted at No. 188 in the U.S.; the disc topped the U.K. album chart its first week out.
