Bush signs with Atlantic, works on label debut

Multi-platinum rockers Bush have inked a long-term deal with Atlantic Records. The deal comes on the heels of a handful of tumultuous years between Bush and its former label, Trauma Records.

In early 1999, Trauma sued Bush for $40 million, saying the band breached its contract because it failed to deliver a new album. The label also claimed that the band was shopping for a new deal.

By spring of 1999, however, Trauma dropped the lawsuit and signed Bush to a multi-year deal, under which Bush released "The Science of Things" in October 1999. The deal didn’t last long, and Bush and Trauma then cut another deal that allowed the band to leave the label.

According to Billboard, Bush bought the rights to its future records from Trauma. In return, the label retains rights to Bush’s catalogue.

Bush--which includes vocalist-guitarist Gavin Rossdale, guitarist Nigel Pulsford, bassist Dave Parsons and drummer Robin Goodridge--is in the studio working on its debut Atlantic album, slated for a September release.

Formed in 1992, Bush released its debut in 1994 and has since sold more than 14 million albums worldwide.
