New Releases, May 1: Destiny’s Child, Stevie Nicks

plus: Montgomery Gentry, Eden’s Crush, more.

Destiny’s Child returns this week with “Survivor,” the R&B act’s third full-length release and the follow-up to 1999’s multi-platinum "The Writing’s on the Wall." The group has planned a blitz of promotional activity around the album, beginning with a Tuesday (5/1) appearance on MTV’s “TRL” at 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

The group’s MTV appearance is expected to feature the announcement of the itinerary for the first-ever “TRL” tour, which will feature Destiny’s Child, Nelly, Eve, Jessica Simpson, Dream and 3LW.

Also on Tuesday (5/1), Destiny’s Child will hold a record signing at 6 p.m. Eastern Time at the Coconuts record store in New York City’s Rockefeller Center. A second signing is set for Friday (5/4) at a Houston, Texas, Wal-Mart at 4 p.m., according to Destiny’s Child’s official website.

A May 5 pay-per-view airing of a previously recorded Destiny’s Child's Houston-area concert is also planned.

The title track from the forthcoming “Survivor” (Columbia) album is currently No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Airplay chart.

Stevie Nicks is back with her latest solo offering, “Trouble in Shangri-La” (Reprise). The disc marks the Fleetwood Mac alumnus’ first release of new material in almost seven years.

“Every Day,” the album's first single, entered Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart at No. 27 last week, and has jumped five spots to No. 22 on this week’s edition.

Nicks has been pegged as VH1’s artist of the month for May; the music channel’s “Storytellers” and “Behind the Music” episodes spotlighting Nicks are scheduled to air numerous times throughout the month. Details can be found at Nicks’ official website.

A summer tour in support of “Trouble in Shangri-La” is expected, though an itinerary has not yet been confirmed, according to her publicist.

Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry--a.k.a. country duo Montgomery Gentry--offer up their sophomore effort this week, “Carrying On” (Columbia). The album’s first single, “She Couldn’t Change Me,” is climbing trade publication Radio & Records’ national airplay Country chart, up a notch to No. 16 on this week’s edition.

Montgomery Gentry are currently on tour with fellow country twosome Brooks & Dunn as part of the latter act’s Neon Circus & Wild West Show.

Spawned from the WB Network “reality” series "Popstars," female quintet Eden’s Crush is taking its act from the small screen to the record store with its debut release “Popstars” (London-Sire/143 Records). “Get Over Yourself,” the album’s first single, recently peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

The group is scheduled to open for ‘NSync’s tour from June 19 through July 27, according to Eden’s Crush’s official website
