Paul Simon and Brian Wilson link for summer tour
Paul Simon and Brian Wilson are teaming up for a 28-city U.S. summer tour that kicks off on June 9 at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Seattle, Wash.
The itinerary, which runs through June and July, includes a two-night stand at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre.
Backed by an 11-piece band, Simon is headlining the tour, which comes on the heels of his Album of the Year Grammy nomination for "You’re the One" (Warner Bros.) and his induction as a solo artist into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. "You’re the One" was recently certified gold, which marks sales of more than 500,000.
Wilson, the co-founder of the Beach Boys, is bringing along 10 musicians, four of whom make up the group the Wondermints. He is releasing a double CD, "Live at the Roxy" (Oglio Records) on June 19.
The winner of the Grammy’s Lifetime Achievement Award, Wilson was recently honored with an all-star tribute featuring David Crosby, Vince Gill, Billy Joel, Elton John, Ricky Martin, Carly Simon and Matthew Sweet. Paul Simon performed the song "Surfer Girl" for the event, which will air on TNT on July 4.
