B.B. King sets concert dates through mid-June
Now that he has collected a Grammy award and a double-platinum certification for his recent collaboration with Eric Clapton, B.B. King is embarking on a spring tour that includes nine shows in Louisiana. The blues icon kicks off his jaunt on Monday (4/23), with the first of two shows at his club in Memphis.
The B.B. King and Eric Clapton album "Riding With the King" (Warner Bros.) was certified double-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in February. According to King’s management, the album is the biggest-selling release of King's career.
"Riding with the King" earned a Grammy for Best Traditional Blues Recording at the 2000 Grammy Awards. King won another 2000 Grammy in the Best Pop Collaboration category for "Is You Is, or Is You Ain’t," a track from King’s 1999 record "Let the Good Times Roll: The Music of Louis Jordan" (MCA) that features Dr. John.
King, 75, is also featured in the IMAX film "All Access: Front Row. Backstage. Live!" which premiered on April 6 in 35 cities. The one-hour film, in which Phish’s Trey Anastasio and the Roots join King for a version of "Rock Me Baby," showcases performances by Sting, George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic, Mary J. Blige, Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow, Macy Gray, Carlos Santana and Rob Thomas, Dave Matthews Band and Al Green, and Moby.
