Charts: 'NOW Vol. 6' holds on to No. 1

“NOW That’s What I Call Music! Vol. 6,” which debuted at No. 1 last week, spends another week at the top of the album chart after moving more than 500,000 copies during its second week in stores, according to industry sources. The album--which contains 17 previously released hits by a chart-topping roster of artists that includes Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Destiny’s Child, Shaggy, ‘NSync, Lenny Kravitz, Creed and U2--has now sold more than one million copies.

At No. 2, also staying put for a second week in a row, is “Until the End of Time” (Interscope), a two-disc compilation of previously unreleased works by the late Tupac Shakur. The collection marks the fourth posthumous release of the rapper’s material.

Shaggy’s “Hotshot” (MCA) continues to hover about the top of the album chart, rising one spot to No. 3 this week. The album, which features the hits “Angel” and “It Wasn’t Me,” has now sold more than 5 million copies.

Making its debut in the Top 10 at No. 4 this week is “Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)” (Jive), the debut release from 13-year-old Aaron Carter, who is the younger brother of Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter. Released last September, the album has been cartwheeling up the chart since the Disney Channel’s March 30 debut of “Aaron Carter & Samantha Mumba in Concert,” a special that the channel has aired eight times to date. “Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)” sat at No. 35 when the special first aired, jumped to No. 21 two weeks back, and was at No. 15 last week.

At No. 5, up one spot from its No. 6 position last week, is Dave Matthews Band’s “Everyday” (RCA). The No. 6 vacancy is filled by R&B singer Ginuwine’s “The Life” (Epic), which debuted at No. 3 last week.

Joining Aaron Carter with a sizeable leap of its own into this week’s Top 10 is “It Was All a Dream” (Arista/Bad Boy), the debut from female quartet Dream, which jumps from No. 21 last week to No. 7. The album features the group’s latest single, “This Is Me.” Dream is currently touring with 98 Degrees, Baha Men and Debelah Morgan.

Behind Dream is Dido’s “No Angel” (Arista), which continues to hang on to the lower rungs of the Top 10, up one spot to No. 8 this week.

This week’s third Top 10 debut comes from Lifehouse, whose “No Name Face” (DreamWorks) clocks in at No. 9. The album was released last Halloween and debuted at No. 154. The group’s latest single, “Hanging by a Moment,” is up to No. 8 on Billboard’s latest Hot 100 Airplay chart.

Rounding out the Top 10--and returning to the group for the first time since last November--is Nelly’s “Country Grammar” (Universal). The album’s track “Ride Wit Me” recently peaked at No. 34 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.

Dropping out of the Top 10 this week is Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s “Live in New York City” (Columbia), which is down to No. 25 after debuting at No. 5 last week, and the late rapper Big Punisher’s “Endangered Species” (Loud) which is down to No. 33 after a No. 7 debut last week.

Further down the list, Ani DiFranco’s “Revelling/Reckoning” (Righteous Babe) clocks in at No. 50, and is the highest-charting debut on this week’s chart.
