Drummer's injury sinks Papa Roach's headlining tour
Papa Roach has canceled the upcoming leg of its Raid the Nation tour because of a chronic wrist injury plaguing drummer David Buckner. The group will play the handful of shows remaining on the initial leg of its outing before it leaves the road to allow Buckner some time to rest.
On Tuesday night (4/17), Papa Roach is scheduled to wrap up its current run through Europe with Alien Ant Farm , and both groups will then hit Canada for three dates before Papa Roach takes a break.
The second leg of the Raid the Nation outing--which was set to feature Papa Roach, Alien Ant Farm and Fear Factory --was scheduled to begin on April 24 in Grand Rapids, Mich., and run through May 11 in Phoenix.
Fear Factory still plans to go ahead with the tour dates, according to the groups official website, but further details weren't available at press time. Alien Ant Farms plans were not known at press time.
In a press release, Buckner said, "This condition is something that Ive been struggling with since last year and I hope to have this diagnosed, treated and be back to one hundred percent before Ozzfest. The pain in Buckners wrist forced the drummer to stop halfway through Papa Roachs April 12 show in Asbury Park, N.J., according to a spokesperson; the drummer took a short break and resumed playing after the pain subsided.
Papa Roach will resume road work with two radio festival dates in mid-May, and the group is banking on having Buckner back to full strength in time for a series of European festival shows beginning in late May, followed by Ozzfest, according to a spokesperson.
