Briefly News and Comment: VH1 Hear Music First, Springsteen
VH1.com has unveiled a new service called "VH1 Hear Music First,'' which allows fans who pre-purchase a CD to get advance access to streaming audio of the entire album on VH1.com. The service will kick off on April 16 with the online unveiling of the new Stevie Nicks album, "Trouble in Shangri-La,'' which won't hit stores until May 1. In addition to getting a stream of the CD, users who pre-order will have access to album artwork, lyrics, liner notes, interviews and other perks, according to a VH1 press release. On the day of the album's official release, fans will have the new CD sent to them directly by VH1.

Rapper Jayo is claiming that rapper Jay-Z worked to see that Jayo's song "True'd Up (The Crip Anthem)" won't be used on the forthcoming Henchman Entertainment compilation "Bullet Proof Love, Vol. 1," according to Sonicnet. The song reportedly "features several indirect Jay-Z disses."
The article quoted Henchmen's CEO as acknowledging that Jay-Z did get the song kept off the compilation, though it doesn't say how he accomplished that.
The Hollywood Reporter quoted a message that's typical of the ones that major radio stations are posting on their website:
Due to recent issues regarding additional fees for the playing of radio commercials over the Internet, we have been forced to temporarily disable our streaming of KFI-AM 640. We apologize for the inconvenience, and we are working to find a solution to this problem as quickly as possible so that we can resume our webcast.
