Briefly News and Comment: 'NSync's 'Celebrity,' Latin Grammys

'NSync's new album will be titled "Celebrity," and is due in stores on June 26, MTV News reported. Jive Records hopes to release the album's first single by the end of this month.
The Latin Grammy Awards will take place at Miami's American Airlines Arena on Sept. 12, the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences and the Latin Recording Academy announced. Last year, Miami officials--who claimed that a county ordinance barred Miami-Dade County from doing business with organizations that do business with Cuba--refused the Academy's request to host the event.
SFX Entertainment announced that "The New World Music Theatre in Chicago has been renamed 'Tweeter Center' and the E-Centre in Camden, N.J. has been renamed 'Tweeter Center at the Waterfront.'" "Tweeter" is Tweeter Home Entertainment Group, a consumer electronics retailer.
Music news website Sonicnet is cutting its staff in the classical and jazz areas, CNet.com reported.
Among the artists scheduled to perform at the Blockbuster Entertainment Awards (to be taped on April 10 and aired on the Fox Network the next night) are Ricky Martin, Stevie Nicks with Sheryl Crow, Joe with Mystikal and LeAnn Rimes. The ceremony takes place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
David Bowie 's online operation BowieNet--a subscription-based service--plans to launch BowieRadio on Thursday (4/5). According to the website, the station will webcast material from Bowie's recorded catalog "plus tons of live tracks and even some never before heard performances from David's private collection." New stations will launch later this year, including one "which will feature David's favorite songs from the 50s to the 90s, ten songs per decade!"
