Los Lobos to spend 25th year on the road and in the studio

April 4, 2001 05:07 PM
Los Lobos is celebrating its 25-year career with a series of shows scheduled through October, as well as a new album for Mammoth Records, with whom it recently signed.

After a taking short break from touring early this year, Los Lobos will return to the road again April 20. Six days later, the band will be honored with a lifetime-achievement award at Billboard's Latin Music Awards, to be held at the Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami on April 26. According to Mammoth Records, the award, El Premio Billboard, recognizes those who have taken Spanish-language music beyond its natural fan base to audiences worldwide. The ceremony will air on April 29 on the Telemundo Network.

Los Lobos is preparing to enter the studio this spring to record its debut for Mammoth, due out later this year.

Last November, Los Lobos and Rhino Records teamed up for "Mas y Mas," an 88-track, four-CD box set that highlights the band, as well as its members’ side projects, the Latin Playboys and Los Super Seven.
