Placebo tour behind U.S. release of latest CD
Androgynous punk-pop act Placebo has scheduled a series of shows around the U.S. release of its latest album "Black Market Music" (Virgin). The North American tour kicks off on April 26 in Toronto and wraps up on May 29 in New York.
"Black Market Music," which was released worldwide in October, hit the Top 10 in nine countries, including France, Greece, Iceland, Germany, U.K., Australia and Italy, according to the band's official website.
The new album--the follow-up to Placebo's million-selling, breakthrough record, 1998's "Without You I’m Nothing"--hits U.S. stores on May 8. Its first two international singles, "Taste in Men," and "Slave to the Wage," were Top 20 hits in the U.K. The album features collaborations with Justin Warfield (One Inch Punch), Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey) and Severe Loren (Linoleum).
