Journey, Frampton and Waite join forces for North American tour

March 20, 2001 06:04 PM
Journey , Peter Frampton and John Waite --all rockers who saw their heydays in the '70s and '80s--are banding together for a major summer tour that will take them to most major and secondary U.S. markets.

Journey--with Steve Perry sound-alike Steve Augeri handling vocals--will prepare for the tour with a gig during Junefest on June 2 in Las Vegas. Journey is anticipating the release of its new album "Arrival," which hits stores on April 3. It is the first record without former lead singer Perry, who pulled out of the group due to health problems in 1998.

Frampton is expected to appear on April 20 as part of the Steve Marriott Memorial Event at London’s Astoria. The event, which marks the anniversary of Marriott’s death, features a Humble Pie reunion, along with performances by former Ultravox frontman Midge Ure, Chris Farlowe, Quiet Riot vocalist Kevin Dubrow and Debbie Bonham, according to Frampton’s official website.

Meanwhile, Waite is releasing a new CD in June, according to his site.
