Alan Jackson tops TNN Country Weekly award nominees
Alan Jackson leads the list of nominees for this year’s TNN Country Weekly Music Awards, which take place on June 13 at the Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville. The singer earned eight nominations in the 12 fan-voted categories, followed by George Strait , Faith Hill and Tim McGraw , all of whom garnered seven.
Nominations were selected by a multi-step ballot process that included ballots in Country Weekly and on Country Weekly's Internet site, countryweekly.com, as well as on country.com. For the semifinal nomination process, fan votes were reflected through a polling of radio industry executives on listeners' requests and data from various music industry reporting publications.
Final voting begins on April 1 via 900- telephone numbers and through countryweekly.com and country.com. Ballots will also be available through Country Weekly in four issues beginning April 17 (available on newsstands April 3).
Awards include the Fast Track Award, which recognizes the country music artist (individual, group or duo) who has, for the first time, demonstrated the most significant creative growth; the Discovery Award, which recognizes the new country music artist who demonstrates the greatest promise in achieving star status; and the Impact Award, which recognizes the artist whose style and music has had the greatest impact on country music's presence in films, television, commercials or soundtracks. In addition, the Country Weekly Career Achievement Award and TNN's signature Minnie Pearl Award will also be announced on the June telecast.
The ceremony will take place during the Country Music Association’s 30th International Country Music Fan Fair festival, and will air on TNN.
