Spice Girl Melanie C. plans first U.S. solo tour
Melanie C., otherwise known as Sporty Spice, will make her first solo trek through the U.S. during her upcoming North American tour. The 13-city outing kicks off on March 29 in Calgary, Alberta, and continues through April 18 in West Palm Beach, Fla.
The Spice Girls abandoned plans for a tour after the paltry showing of "Forever" (Virgin), which debuted at No. 39 on the Billboard 200 album chart last November. Melanie's multi-platinum debut "Northern Star" (Virgin) hit stores in October 1999 and spawned the dance club hit "I Turn to You."
Last year, Melanie scheduled a handful of U.K. dates that were subsequently canceled due to illness. According to Pollstar, those dates have been rescheduled for late spring.
