Brooks & Dunn unveil Neon Circus and Wild West Show
In an endeavor that is sure to draw comparisons to the popular George Strait Country Music Festival, country duo Brooks & Dunn has unwrapped plans for a multi-act tour titled the Neon Circus and Wild West Show. Toby Keith , Montgomery Gentry and Keith Urban will also be on the bill.
Unlike the Strait festival, which plays at stadiums, the Neon Circus will tour the amphitheater and arena circuits. The Brooks & Dunn shows are expected to get underway in the evenings, unlike the midday start-times of the Strait events.
The ambitious jaunt is scheduled to get underway in late April, and will run into August. Tour publicists released an itinerary listing the cities the tour will visit and dates on Wednesday (1/31), but venues and ticket on-sale details were not announced.
The multi-level Neon Circus stage was designed by Mike Swinford with input from Brooks & Dunn, and the production is described by tour publicists as a “multi-sensory experience” that includes video and a confetti cannon. It will take 12 buses, eight trucks, and a 40-person crew to move the production from city to city.
''The fans are pretty sophisticated, so it takes more than a backdrop and a little pyro to really ‘Wow’ them...but that's what we've always set out to do--and this time the bar is just that much higher,” Ronnie Dunn said in a statement.
Before the music begins, street performers will open the show.
Brooks & Dunn are nominated for a Grammy in the Best Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group category for the track “You'll Always Be Loved by Me.” The duo is currently putting the finishing touches on its seventh album. The album’s first single, “Ain’t Nothing ‘Bout You,” is expected to hit radio on Feb. 12.
