Briefly: Neil Young, Aerosmith, Eminem, VH1, Jewel's alleged crib notes
Neil Young is to play a surprise show at the Warfield in San Francisco on Wednesday (1/10). Tickets, which were originally scheduled to go on sale at noon Pacific Time on the day of show, are now scheduled to hit the market at 4 p.m.
Promoters said that tickets to the show will be sold at Ticketmaster outlets only, and will not be sold online. A previously announced Thursday (1/11) show at the same venue couldn't be confirmed at press time. [LiveDaily is a publication of Ticketmaster Online-Citysearch.]
Aerosmith debuted a new song titled "Jaded" at the American Music Awards on Monday (1/8). MTV reported that the title of the new album is "Just Push Play," and the LP is reportedly due this spring.
Pay-per-view company In Demand will air "Eminem in Concert" on Feb. 17.
From a VH1 press release on its upcoming special "VH1 All Access: How Far Is Too Far?"
Hot video director David LaChappelle found that his provocative video for Enrique Iglesias' "Sad Eyes," featuring porn star Cassiedy, was way too hot for the artist's record company, and it has never seen the light of day. "It wasn't that it was graphically too strong," LaChappelle says. "I'm not stupid ... I don't do a video where you're showing body parts or sex acts ... The idea was too strong that he was alone in his room, basically, masturbating to a video."
Yeah! He's not stupid, for God's sake!
A couple of things we learned about TV censors recently:
1) We met a guy who's producing a talk show pilot, and he said that you can't say "scumbag" on the air, because "scumbag" was once the slang word for "condom."
2) We forget what we were watching, but apparently, you can say "ballsy" on TV now.
From a Brill's Content article on Bill Maher and his show "Politically Incorrect," on which Jewel was a guest:
Jewel is looking at her hands, and from the audience, where I'm standing next to a security guard, I see a black blur, the suggestion of ink on flesh, but I can't be sure. Later, I review the tape over and over, and finally it becomes clear: Jewel had notes written on her hand. ...(A spokesperson for Jewel declined to comment.)
