Briefly: 'NSync, other holiday lawsuits, Malkmus

Police have requested video footage and photographs of last Saturday's (12/23) K-Ci & JoJo concert, during which K-Ci reportedly exposed himself, according to MTV.com. Radio station and sponsor KIIS reportedly has concert footage, and a local newspaper reportedly has concert photographs.

MTV.com also has a story about a St. Louis girl who's suing a member of 'NSync, but it's not easily summarized, and it's a depressingly ugly fan-performer encounter followed by a stupid-sounding lawsuit, and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch hadn't picked it up by press time, so who knows, and it's the Friday before Christmas and we want to get out of here and do laundry before our flight tomorrow.

Here are a couple more lawsuits:

According to the Associated Press, "The Beach Boys and their former record company [Deck Records] are suing each other, both claiming they own some of the band's early recordings, including 'Surfin' Safari.'"

Albert E. Brumley & Sons, the company that owns the copyright to the gospel song "I'll Fly Away," is suing Dixie Chicks , claiming that the group recorded the song without authorization, the Nashville Tenneseean reported. The group put music from that song at the end of their song "Sin Wagon."

Various industry people told Billboard that this holiday season has been disappointing in terms of music sales.

Reminder to Pavement fans: now that the band's Stephen Malkmus has released a recording with his new band the Jicks, we've noticed that at least a couple of music news sources are talking about the demise of Pavement, which still isn't official.
