Rescheduled Pantera tour continues to take shape

Pantera has added a handful of shows to its extensive 2001 tour, which is set to kick off on Feb. 1 in New Mexico, according to the group’s official website. The recent additions include a third consecutive performance in New York City, as well as new stops in Iowa, Maryland, Maine and Georgia.

After selling out its first March 8 performance at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom and adding a second show on March 9, the group has now made the engagement a three-night stand with the addition of a March 10 show, tickets for which go on sale on Thursday (12/14).

A Feb. 23 stop in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has also been added, as have stops on March 14 in Towson, Md.; March 16 in Lewiston, Maine; and March 30 in Atlanta, Ga.

While tickets for many of the dates on the group’s upcoming tour have already gone on sale, tickets for five shows are set for release on Saturday (12/16), including the tour’s Feb. 1 kick-off in Albuquerque, N.M.; Feb. 2 stop in Mesa, Ariz.; Feb. 9 in Seattle, Wash.; Feb. 16 in Kansas City, Mo.; Feb. 22 in Peoria, Ill.; and Feb 23 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

An Internet pre-sale for tickets to all six of the aforementioned shows begins on Thursday, according to ARTISTdirect.

In another slight tweak to its itinerary, the group has moved its Feb. 20 performance in Minneapolis from the Roy Wilkins Auditorium to the Target Center. The March 3 Chicago performance, meanwhile--for which the venue was previously listed as “TBA”--has been booked into the UIC Pavilion, according to the group’s official website.

Pantera’s tour was originally scheduled to begin on Nov. 7 and was set to run until Dec. 9. The tour was postponed in late October after frontman Phil Anselmo fell and broke two ribs.

Next Wednesday (12/20), Pantera is scheduled to participate in an online chat hosted by getmusic.com.
